PBL for term 3

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about cultural stories and the big question
was what our culture does.
What is the significance in the 21st Century of our Cultural stories?

First we brainstormed what culture is and came up with lots of ideas.
We thought of questions like what is culture. I think that culture is about your Religion, celebration
and what your cultures impacts on you
Culture is what language you speak and what your country does.

Then we thought about our own culture and talked to our parents about our traditions and heritage.
I wrote a post about my family and things we like to do.
In Literacy we read and discussed myths and legends from around the world then we concentrated on
Maori legends.
I read Maui and the big fish.
I have retold a legend called Maui and the big fish in my own words.

We made a performance about the story Battle of the Mountains. Some students wrote the script,
some students took on the job of making all the artwork, some worked hard on organizing the music
and others took on the role of bringing the story alive with dance and drama.

In the performance, I helped by writing the script with 6 other people and painting the set.
I think that this had an impact on people by giving them a legend to learn about and
what they might've not known about.

Reflection: We did a great performance and it was a good experience.
What does your culture do?

Swimming at Graham Condon

For the past two weeks, St Francis has been swimming at Graham Condon. We did free style, backstroke and breaststroke. We got to learn how to use life jackets which was pretty fun. We do it two weeks every year and next year will be even more fun.  My favourite thing to do at Graham Condon was the life jackets because we even got to go under a boat and breaststroke. I can't wait for next year. Image result for Swimming

Where is your favourite place to swim?

My Maths Evidence

My Maths Evidence

Hi and welcome to my blog. Recently I have been doing place value and how to make equations easier and more simple. Place Value is when you have an equation like 256+304. If you want to make that easier, then just make a tidy number and then add the other number to it. If I saw this equation, then I would first do 256+4 equals 260 and then 260+300 = 560. You can even do this with subtraction too! In the picture below, you will see my example of Place Value.
