Maths W5 T3
Hey bloggers and welcome back to another one of my blogs for the week. In maths, we learnt about percentages again. There were 3 questions and 2 extensions. If you would like to answer the questions, here they are.
Question 1
Mereana buys the latest i-phone 12 for $1420.00 after getting a 15%
discount. How much did the i-phone 12 cost before the discount?
Question 2:
Brent knows that Mr Williams is taking rugby training on Thursday, and so
goes to Rebel Sport to get the best shoulder pads, mouth guard and head
gear he can find!
Each item costs $47.00. They have a protective gear set which includes all
three items that cost $155.00, but is on special with a 10% discount. What
is the cheapest option for Brent?
Question 3:
Part 1: Beth, Cleo and Grace have been asked to research Electric Bikes so
that the school can buy one for a teacher to use when they are on ‘bike
track’ duty at lunchtimes. They find a beautiful rainbow colored one with a
flashing red light, an air horn and a microphone and speaker. It costs
$5750 after a 13% discount is applied. How much should they tell Ms Earl
the school needs for this bike?
Part 2: Ms Earl is thrilled with the bike that Beth, Cleo and Grace have
chosen, and decides that as well as one for the duty teacher, that Shane
should have one to ride around on for his caretaker duties! If the school
buys two, the discount is 25% off the total price. When Ms Earl finds out
the price of two bikes, she is not so happy. Why?
What's your favourite type of strategy in maths?
