Cross Country

Hi, welcome to my blog. Every year, we do something called cross country. Cross country is when you have to run until you cross the finish line with how much laps you have to do. If you do good, you could get into an event named zones. Zones is competitive because you vs your teammates and you vs other schools as well. For our school cross country, the year 7 and 8s have to run 3KM and I place 6th place and got into zones. At zones, it is the top 12 to get into centrals and I got the last spot to go to centrals.

Hi, 
For this term, I am doing a Podcast with my partner Flynn. The Podcast that we're doing is about racism and how we could stop it. In the Podcast, we will talk about Racism, stories of people being discriminated against their race and we will talk about ways that we can stop racism. Term 2 Project Based Learning

Hello.

For this term, we have to answer our PBL driving question and the driving question is a big problem around the world. Our driving question is how to stand up against discrimination. 


Here are some questions and here are my answers.

• What kind of types are there for discrimination? - Racism, Ageism, Sexism, Ablesim and Religious Discrimination.
• What are Human Rights? - Human rights is something that every human has. They have the right to do something and not be controlled by someone else.
• How can you stand up to Discrimination? - Don't be a bystander, be an upstander. If you see anyone of the discrimination, you should stand up to them and say that's not right. You could persuade some people into being kind and loving.

I will now talk about the impacts that some of these discrimination's have had on the world.

In the 50s to 60s, there was a time called segregation. That meant that all the black people would not be as equal to the white people. That would mean that a black person would not be able to sit on a bench or be in a restaurant where there were white people inside. Now, Segregation is no more but if we keep being racist to one another, Segregation could come back. No matter what colour you are, black, white, brown or any colour, you're human no matter what and you should be proud of where you're from and what country you represent.

Throughout our history of our world, we have been fighting against another type of discrimination named sexism. Sexism is when one gender is more privileged than the other. There have been many stereotypes about women saying that they are not able to play sports or they're not as fast as men or as strong as them. There have been stereotypes about how women should be paid less then men.

There are stereotypes for toys for children and stereotypes for women jobs and men jobs. There are gender stereotypes for sports as well. In my opinion, I think that these stereotypes should stop because I believe that all men and women are equal to one another and men should not be more privileged just because they're men.

We will now talk about ageism. 
Ageism is when you judge someone just by their age. Many people in the world have been stopped just for their age when their doing something good. People in the world are shutting down young people's potential just because of their age. In my opinion, I think that people should have a say in anything that should include them no matter what age they are. 

In our world, there is something called a disability. Many people in the world were born with a disability but it doesn't let them down. People in the world are taking advantage of disabled people and making fun of them, not letting them have the same privilege as other people. People are treating disabled people differently from others just because of their disability. I think that no matter what disability you are, you should never be treated differently from other people.

I'm now gonna talk about religious discrimination. Religious Discrimination is when you make fun of someones Religion. Countries around the world have different kinds of religions and some people don't believe in them. People make fun of religions from other countries but I think that you should be able to believe in any religion because you have the right to.

What can you do to stand up to one of these discrimination's?

1. What stood out for you from watching this video? Describe (1 paragraph) the similarities between life in New Zealand and the life of those living in South Sudan.

In New Zealand and South Sudan, we both are trying to look for peace and love.

Some people in New Zealand are christians just like people in South Sudan.

We both have some of the same education.

We both love one another and we try to help each other.

2. Describe (1 paragraph) the differences between your life in New Zealand and the life of a 10 year old in South Sudan.

I have a warm house when it’s winter, they have a cold house. I get to school in a car, they walk..

3. Use the website Dollar Street to identify what families around the world ‘next thing to buy is’. What a paragraph using specific examples to show your understanding about how people around the world have different wants and needs.

I can that some people would like a car for their next thing to buy because of it’s fast transport and you could get to places faster. Some people would like a phone because of how you could contact your family if you’re away or if you could just play some games. Some people would like a bed so they can be comfortable at night.

Some people would like a table to eat on because they don’t want to eat on the floor.

Someone would like some food so they won’t be hungry.

After listening to various quotes about love, find a quote that inspires you to be more like Jesus. Create a bumper sticker on Google Drawing and insert it on the page below complete with a cool font and lots of colour to make the quote stand out (as though it was on the back of a vehicle and viewed by hundreds).

Digi Awards

Hi.

This year, we are doing Digi Awards for our PBL.
It will be super fun because this is gonna be the first time that I do it.
It will be really fun because we get to see other people's PBL project and we get to learn about what people have done in their PBL project too.
It will be on the 9.4.19 6:30.

School Values

Hi. Today I will talk about our school Values.
These are our school Values and how to use them.

Respect

  For Respect, you have to treat others the way you want to be treated. You could also greet the teachers, hold the door or help someone else. You could listen to people when they talk, or not talk when people are talking.

Service

 For Service, you could help people with their work, you could do some jobs.

You could do some chores, you could help the elderly. You could ask the teachers if they need something or the students. 

Compassion

For Compassion, you would feel someones pain.

You would feel bad for someone if they lost a loved one.

You would be there for them.

You would be someone for them.

Integrity

For Integrity, you could do something and get nothing back. If you did something to get nothing back, you did something that other people couldn't be bothered to do.

You could do some extra work or help someone and get nothing back.

But that's fine because knowing that you did something, is everything.

T Shirt for Kindness

Hi guys. In week 8, we decided to design a T Shirt that shows
 our school values and to show kindness.
There is a prize where if your T Shirt is chosen,
it will be the T shirt for the school.
I made a T shirt about choosing kind.
I kind of hope that my T shirt is chosen
but I don't want it to be chosen at the same time.
I'm excited to see who's T Shirt is chosen
and will be the school T Shirt.
