Kamusta, my name is Brent and today I will be telling you all about my culture. I am from the Philippines in Cebu city. In Cebu, we have a festival called the Sinulog festival. We celebrate it because in the 16th century, that was the time when Filipinos embraced Christianity. To celebrate the Sinulog festival, We often dance around and have a massive feast.
If you move into a new house in the Philippines, you often have a house blessing. A house blessing is when you move into a new house and contact a priest to bless your house with holy water. The priest blesses every spot in the house. The reason why we do it is so that we can stay safe in it and that if there is an emergency, the house won't be broken.
We have a desert called "Halo Halo". It is a well known desert all around the country. The things that are inside of halo halo is Evaporated milk, crushed ice, sweetened beans, fruit slices and a scoop of ice cream on top which most Filipinos like Ube and many more. I recommend you should try it if you have the chance to find it in Christchurch. We often eat a lot of meat.
I hope that you have learnt a lot of stuff.
See you next time!
