1. What stood out for you from watching this video? Describe (1 paragraph) the similarities between life in New Zealand and the life of those living in South Sudan.

In New Zealand and South Sudan, we both are trying to look for peace and love.

Some people in New Zealand are christians just like people in South Sudan.

We both have some of the same education.

We both love one another and we try to help each other.

2. Describe (1 paragraph) the differences between your life in New Zealand and the life of a 10 year old in South Sudan.

I have a warm house when it’s winter, they have a cold house. I get to school in a car, they walk..

3. Use the website Dollar Street to identify what families around the world ‘next thing to buy is’. What a paragraph using specific examples to show your understanding about how people around the world have different wants and needs.

I can that some people would like a car for their next thing to buy because of it’s fast transport and you could get to places faster. Some people would like a phone because of how you could contact your family if you’re away or if you could just play some games. Some people would like a bed so they can be comfortable at night.

Some people would like a table to eat on because they don’t want to eat on the floor.

Someone would like some food so they won’t be hungry.

After listening to various quotes about love, find a quote that inspires you to be more like Jesus. Create a bumper sticker on Google Drawing and insert it on the page below complete with a cool font and lots of colour to make the quote stand out (as though it was on the back of a vehicle and viewed by hundreds).

Digi Awards

Hi.

This year, we are doing Digi Awards for our PBL.
It will be super fun because this is gonna be the first time that I do it.
It will be really fun because we get to see other people's PBL project and we get to learn about what people have done in their PBL project too.
It will be on the 9.4.19 6:30.

School Values

Hi. Today I will talk about our school Values.
These are our school Values and how to use them.

Respect

  For Respect, you have to treat others the way you want to be treated. You could also greet the teachers, hold the door or help someone else. You could listen to people when they talk, or not talk when people are talking.

Service

 For Service, you could help people with their work, you could do some jobs.

You could do some chores, you could help the elderly. You could ask the teachers if they need something or the students. 

Compassion

For Compassion, you would feel someones pain.

You would feel bad for someone if they lost a loved one.

You would be there for them.

You would be someone for them.

Integrity

For Integrity, you could do something and get nothing back. If you did something to get nothing back, you did something that other people couldn't be bothered to do.

You could do some extra work or help someone and get nothing back.

But that's fine because knowing that you did something, is everything.

T Shirt for Kindness

Hi guys. In week 8, we decided to design a T Shirt that shows
 our school values and to show kindness.
There is a prize where if your T Shirt is chosen,
it will be the T shirt for the school.
I made a T shirt about choosing kind.
I kind of hope that my T shirt is chosen
but I don't want it to be chosen at the same time.
I'm excited to see who's T Shirt is chosen
and will be the school T Shirt.
If you could make a T Shirt, What would
you put in it?

Tech.

Every Monday, my hub goes to Tech. 
At Tech, you get to learn and try stuff like cooking, woodwork, plastics ETC.
Currently, I am doing woodwork and in woodwork, we are making a box. 
Throughout the first 2 weeks, we made a key chain about anything, 
I decided to make a key chain that says b because 
b is the first letter of my name. Before we got to use our first machine,
 we had to watch and learn. 
After we planned out what we were gonna make for our key chains, 
we drilled a hole. After I drilled, I used a countersink.
 We then did a quiz on if we could name the tools and I got 6/8. 
Right now, we are very close to making the box as last session,
 we cut some wood for the box and countersunk them. 
We also learnt some drawings and some measurements about 3D drawings.

Swimming Lessons

In week 6, our whole school went for swimming lessons at QEll.  
Our hub went in the morning and came back at around 11am. 
We did swimming for 2 weeks straight. 
My group did freestyle, backstroke and and survivor back stroke. 
We had buddies from the Kakano and we had to look after them
at swimming. Swimming was really fun because not only did we get 
to swim but we got to play games as well. 
During the last 3 days , we got to do life jackets and we learnt on 
what to do if an accident occurred.  
During the life jackets and boats, our little buddies joined in with us
as well and wore life jackets. For the life jackets, they changed on how deep 
the pool was from 1.3 metres to 2.0 metres. 

What's your favourite swimming style?

Banqer

This year in Kaupeka, we have been using banqer.
Banqer is a website that is used by our teachers that 
reward us when we are seen doing something good 
or when you help someone.
If you are seen by a teacher and you're doing good,  
the teacher will reward you with virtual money.
Sometimes there will be a banqer auction where the teachers 
something up for grabs and you can use your banqer money 
to buy it. 

In the middle of term 1, we got to learn about what low risk is,
what medium risk is and what high risk funds are.
Low risk is when you invest in something that is very famous and
you know that their company won't fail and you have a very low
chance of losing all your money that you gave to the company for 
the investment. 

Medium risk is when you invest in something that is brand new but 
it is pretty popular and some people use it. The same thing goes for this one as
well so if your company fails, you lose all your money.

High risk is if you invest into a company that is brand new and you are confident
that the company won't fail but if you do high risk, you have a very large percentage
of that company failing. If it does, then you lose all your money that you invested in.
